New - Paint Your Own Canvas Art

Launching a new concept of products for gifts ideal for children and budding artists.
This idea originally came about when a good friend couldn't find anything suitable for her child to paint herself; "I remember them" was my answer but like her I found the market was limited in offering the traditional paint your own art, so I created one for her (she was my guinea pig to see if the materials and idea would work in practise).
After offering as a traditional chunky canvas, I thought of another way these products could be used and came up with the new canvas board sign styles that Liza J design now offers, not only does this give a less expensive option these could be used to entertain children at a birthday painting party, were the 'entertainment' can be taken home in their party bag for them to keep.
To give the item as a gift, both styles can have a mini water cake watercolour set added to the order with one brush to get them started.
Each product is an original design pencil sketched and outlined using black waterproof archival ink onto a quality acrylic primed canvas. Watercolour paints would be most suitable to use with the canvas, as the child will still be able to see the waterproof black outline when painting.
The two initial designs released are:

But.... I'm looking for more designs so what better way than offer you the chance to create one! If your child is a budding artist and you would like them to have their very own personalised canvas for them to paint, please let me know what theme you would like and save 20% off the price as well!
Looking for new designs in the canvas art range (20% off applies to either size enter coupon code LJDPYO20 at checkout) please add design requirements to your order or message lizajdesign@me.com.
New design ideas based on original theme:
One character - whether girl or boy describe the hair, clothes.
One theme - hearts, flowers, princess, pirate, jungle animals, farm animals, football etc.

Keep an eye out on the New & Offers page as occasionally offers become available when a new design is in the making, an original artwork sample is needed to expand the Liza J design portfolio or a one-off sample is sold off at a reduced rate (a limited offer that can be withdrawn at anytime).

Lizajdesign becomes Liza J design

I've been debating the last few months whether the Lizajdesign name needs to be spaced to read better than a website name. Liza J is ultimately the signature on the artwork produced but felt the 'design' element still needed to be within the name to explain clearly that Liza J is about artwork.
So the change is now happening...

Liza J design artwork can still be purchased on the Not On The High Street store:

Here goes the Choo Choo Train!

Choo Choo Train Collection

The Choo Choo train design has got a bit bigger, with new products now launched on the Not On The High Street storefront, I'd thought I'd take some time out from painting and share them with you!
The original design in this collection is the Choo Choo Name Canvas
Which is now available in three sizes (the Large size is new)
Medium W30.5 x H25.4 x D3.8cm
Large W40.6 x H30.5 x D3.8cm
Grand W45.6 x H35.6 x D3.8cm
You can personalise the painting with a name up to 9 letters, depending on what size is chosen.

The original design just got.....l o n g e r,  The Choo Choo Train Name Canvas Long is painted on a rectangle sized canvas so the name on the track is behind the train.
Dimensions:
Medium Long W50.8 x H20.3 x D3.8cm (up to 6 letters)

Both Name Canvases can be extra personalised with a date on the train's door and a special message if required.

Finally, The Choo Choo Train Picture Canvas has now been launched on the site, which can be personalised with a name on the door.
Available individually in three standard sizes:
Small 20.3cm x 20.3cm (8" x 8")
Medium 25.4cm x 25.4cm (10" x 10")
Large 30.5cm x 30.5cm (12" x 12")

All the primary coloured canvases would suit a newly decorated baby boy's nursery or add that special finishing touch to a young boy's 'big' bedroom. They would be an ideal gift for a baby's christening or birthday as the product can be personalised and is ready to hang straight onto the wall.
As the canvases are hand painted to order please allow up to 21 days delivery.

P.S Please get in touch if you have an avid girly train fan (the train design could be adapted again to suit a little girl)!

Today the giraffe got wet!

The giraffe got wet!

Today the giraffe reached new surroundings...

Normally the Lizajdesign giraffe would end up on a newly decorated nursery wall or wrapped up neatly in orange tissue paper ready to give as a gift for a newborn baby, Christening present or a birthday gift; however today the giraffe was found in the water!

The giraffe has found pride of place on Tom Yallop's powerboat No. 71 for Parklands Racing and today Tom was racing locally in Oulton Broad for the Lowestoft Grand Prix as part of the bank holiday weekend (26/27 May) 2013 Powerboat GP RYA British Championship

Tom is competing for the GT30 class in the second round of the British Championship, "hosted by the Lowestoft and Oulton Broad Motor Boat Club at Nicholas Everitt Park, where over 40 team’s battle it out for valuable championship points in eight different classes" (quote: RYA Powerboat Racing).

So another day tomorrow, try and spot the giraffe on No.71 on the water, Good Luck Tom!

Small Business Sunday Winners Event - Edgbaston Stadium

WOW! What more can I say, as if winning the Small Business Sunday Tweet back in September 2011 wasn't enough, last Friday 30th March I attended the #SBS Winners event at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham and met the delightful Theo Paphitis himself.

The Car
Tia Lush and myself

I finally got to meet the lovely Tia Lush herself from whoatemycrayons.com; Tia has spent hours on the other end of the computer re-designing my giraffe logo and creating leaflets and business cards from the Lizajdesign images, highly recommended!

Putting faces to Twitter names and fellow designers

I also had the opportunity to meet other successful Small Business Sunday Winners who often are on the other end of Twitter for advise and fellow notonthehighstreet.com crafty designer suppliers. From Left to Right- in red Jo from 3blondebears.co.uk, myself dressed in the signature orange and with my giraffe mascot, Gabriella in lime from moobaacluck.com and Becky at the front from dotsandspots.co.uk , oh and the lady in the red spotted top in the background is the delightful Heidi from Giddy Kipper!
To the right Kyleigh from Kyleigh's Papercuts

Theo Paphitis gave us a wonderful and inspiring long talk about business and the developments of the Small Business Sunday, creating a new logo and a fantastic website designed and hosted by Chris Wheeler @metalfrogst who happens to be based in East Anglia too!
The new website is www.theopaphitissbs.com

After taking the time to talk to us all Theo Paphitis presented us with a winners certificate and the opportunity to have our photograph taken professionally.

Lizajdesign in the local newspaper today!

Lizajdesign has today been featured in my local newspaper, after it's Twitter success, as chosen by Theo Pathitis 'Small Business Sunday'. The article features a little bit 'about me' and how Lizajdesign originated!
